The main points:

-Tuition is $90 every month and is due at the first lesson of each month. (for weekly half-hour lessons. $180 for hour-long lessons.)

-We no longer offer make-ups for absences, but we have increased the number of lessons you get to compensate.

-Instructors will hire substitutes from timi-to-time, or offer you a refund for any lessons they miss for any reason.

-If inclement weather makes travel unsafe, then the Academy will be closed and there are no make-ups or refunds for that lost lesson. If Chapel Hill public schools are closed for weather, then so are we but not on "delayed opening days".

-Kids must be dropped off no earlier than 10 minutes before lessons and picked up no later than 10 minutes after their lesson ends.

The details:

-Tuition for weekly half-hour lessons is $90 per month, due at the first scheduled lesson each month. If you miss that lesson, you should make arrangments to pay tuition anyway to avoid the late fee. (If tuition is not paid BEFORE the 2nd lesson of the month, a $10 late fee will be assessed.)

-Our academic calendar mimics the Chapel Hill/ Carrboro public school system's academic calendar, with regard to holidays and some teacher work days.

-There are 44 lessons scheduled per year. Each lesson costs $24.55 BUT we take the total cost of all 44 lessons and divide it by 12 months to arrive at the AVERAGE monthly cost of $90. That way we can keep a regular income that is the same each month. This allows us to pay our studio expenses and personal bills regularly.

-Some months you will get 4 lessons, some months 5 and some months 3, but the tuition is ALWAYS $90.

-There are no 'make-up' weeks for students that miss a lesson and we can not reschedule for another time that week. (WE used to set aside 3 weeks throughout the year when only students who have missed a lesson could come....'make-up' weeks. However, we decided to just give everyone those 3 extra lessons to avoid conflicts and save administration.) Now, if you miss a lesson for whatever reason, your average lesson price simply goes up to $25.11..... and if you miss 2 lessons, your average lesson cost is $25.71, etc...still about or below average. If you think you may have trouble getting to your regular lesson time due to sports, etc., please ask about a new time altogether.

-If your instructor is absent, he/she will try to hire a qualified substitute and may or may not be able to let you know ahead of time. If they are unable to hire a sub, they should offer to refund you for one lesson ($24.56) or in some cases, reschedule the lesson.

-WEATHER, If the Chapel HIll / Carrboro public schools are closed due to weather, then so are we and there is no make-up or reschedule. If school is delayed an hour or two, as is often the case, we will remain open unless you are notified.

-PARKING, We have ample parking up front and in the back yard. We think it is best to pull into our back driveway off of Morningside Drive rather than into the front driveway off the busy N. Greensboro St. You can pull in back and drive around to the front to park also. Feel free to drive on the grass.

-Please be prompt about pick-up times. Occasionally kids are left waiting a half-hour or more and we must emphasize that they are unattended while we are in lessons and we do not claim to be responsible for them. We like to keep people moving in and out so as to free up chairs in the waiting area, etc. Finally, please don't bring your kid's friends to hang out in the lesson or in the waiting areas unless absolutley neccessary.
